The 5 Steps You Need for The Perfect Home Staging

Staging the home is big process, and having help makes it a lot easier.

I’ve been doing this for a while, so I know what makes a successful home staging.

There are a few things that can help you appeal to home buyers and sell your home.

Here are my 5 Home Staging Tips for Home Sellers:

  1. Depersonalize

First things first – take down family photos, calendars, trophies, and children’s art. Basically all of the things that will get in the way of home buyers picturing your home as their own.

Don’t forget everything on the fridge! The fridge is a common culprit for all those personal items we don’t want to forget about.

If you have big family photos on the walls, an insider trick is to replace them with mirrors to increase the appearance of space in rooms!

  1. Decrease

You may need to rearrange furniture regardless of how you use a room – the best layout for a room when staging is what will make it appear is if there is more room than there is!

Remove extra rugs, and over-sized furniture if you can.

  1. De-Clutter

Once you’ve cut down on bigger items, the little ones will make a difference too. Rooms like the bathroom and living room often accumulate little items like samples, or small trinkets on tables.

Pack those up!

Also notable is that wiping all surfaces down of dust will make your space look fresher. Glass surfaces, if you have any, need to be crystal clear; counter tops in the kitchen and bathroom look better when gleaming!

  1. De-Pet and Deodorize

Some people love pets, others don’t. For those home buyers that aren’t pet people, pet smells and evidence of pets is a huge turn off. If you have a pet, a dog or a cat or a bird, etc., removing all manifestations is necessary.

Pet dishes, litter boxes, toys, should be packed away. Don’t forget to clean any surfaces where you pets may hang out, a particular favourite chair or windowsill often used for naps. As well, many of our furry friends like to wait for us at windows so extra care should be shown in clearing paw prints, or nose smudges, from glass surfaces.

  1. Refurnish

For those home sellers who have already moved out and relocated all of their personal items and furniture, the task of home staging is a different game.

Basic furniture is still helpful for home buyers to picture how rooms will function and their own interior design aesthetic will look if they purchase your home.

What you can do if you don’t have furniture left at your old space is rent furniture. Keep a keen eye that the home design remains clean and appealing to all who enter your home.
